… growing the next generation of food entrepreneurs

The Catskill Edible Garden Project (CEGP) works with schools and community organizations to design edible gardens as living educational and gathering spaces. These projects offer access to healthy local food, hands on experience and exposure to food and agriculture as important aspects of our community.

The program includes a hands-on “Chef in the Classroom” demonstration and workshop intended to get kids excited about eating fresh vegetables. Students participate in a cooking class, working side by side with a professional chef, to create meals using vegetables grown in their school garden or sourced from local farms.

The Catskill Edible Garden Project is a partnership between Sullivan Renaissance, Catskill Mountainkeeper, and Cornell Cooperative Extension of Sullivan County.

Sullivan 180

Sullivan 180” is a newly formed organization that was founded to address the overall health and wellness of Sullivan County by taking a broad view of the issues and challenges impacting its residents. The organization’s board is made up of community leaders interested in providing a better quality of life in the areas of public health, the environment, the arts, government, business and education.

The objective of “Sullivan 180” is to work collaboratively with community partners to identify specific initiatives, leverage resources, and raise awareness of health and wellness issues.

In addition to Sullivan Renaissance, Sullivan 180 partner organizations include Bethel Woods Center for the Arts, Catskill Mountainkeeper, Catskill Regional Medical Center, the Center for Discovery, Cornell Cooperative Extension of Sullivan County, Hudson River Health Care, Sullivan County Government, Sullivan County Public Health, Sullivan County Division of Planning, and SUNY Sullivan.

There is a clear need to offer our residents opportunities for improving their health and prosperity. This encompasses not only physical but also mental, spiritual and environmental wellness. A sense of purpose; connection to family and community; access to fresh food; and an active lifestyle are all essential for a thriving Sullivan County.

SULLIVAN 180 is committed to change by degrees, the kind of slow, steady and enduring transformation that is thoughtfully conceived and implemented.
