Sullivan Renaissance believes that youth can serve as excellent volunteers when given the support and opportunity to do so. Youth participation is an important aspect of the Sullivan Renaissance mission and program and there are many opportunities for young people to get involved and make a difference in their communities.
In partnership with the Center for Workforce Development, Sullivan Renaissance offers the Gardening Internship and Youth Development Program "Change is a Relay." The program is based on the premise that change doesn’t happen with one person or even one generation; it is constant, fluid and transcends generations. The goal is to give young people a positive experience and allow them to see that their voice mattersl that they have the ability and the power to make a difference and to be part of something beyond themselves. As volunteers and future community leaders they are able to gain valuable experience by participating in the betterment of their communities.
