GREEN IS AN EVOLUTION, NOT A REVOLUTION

Builder ‘demystifies green building’ at seminar

March 25, 2008

HARRIS – The Center for Discovery and Sullivan Renaissance presented the third part in their “Demystifying Green Building” series on March 24 at The Center for Discovery in Harris.  This sold out event was a discussion and symposium about the realities, possibilities and pitfalls of “green” construction.

The discussion was lead by Pete Berman, CEO of the Ruby Group and involved a diverse group of attendees ranging the spectrum of design professionals, attorneys, contractors and building material suppliers.

“A lively discussion was had involving many different perspectives as to the obstacles and benefits of Green Building” said Pete Berman.

Bill Duquette an attorney for Jacobowitz and Gubits, LLP (law firm in Walden) had this to say, “As an attorney involved in many Real Estate transactions it is my belief that Green represents an opportunity to give buyers better properties that have a more sustainable future.  Today was a great opportunity to expand my own knowledge and reinforce the notion that a little bit of green is a great start.”

The overwhelming theme that Pete Berman tried to convey to the attendees was that “Green is an evolution not a revolution. As builders, contractors, and others involved in the construction industry we must find ways to move towards more sustainable practices that are recognized as green and improve the quality of life of the people that live in our buildings and homes.
