FALL LITTERPLUCK ANNOUNCED FOR SEPTEMBER 13

Sponsored by Sullivan County Legislature

August 21, 2008

MONTICELLO – The Sullivan Beautification program of the Sullivan County Legislature has announced that it will conduct is 2nd Annual Fall Litterpluck on Saturday, September 13th.

Legislative Majority Leader Kathleen LaBuda, who chairs the Legislative Public Works Committee, said, “Our constituents respond so positively and donate of their time to the Spring Litterpluck each year, and we wanted to offer private citizens and civic groups the opportunity to beautify their communities in preparation for our fall season.”

The Sullivan County Division of Public Works and Solid Waste will donate trash bags for this community-based roadside cleanup event, and will accept the roadside refuse and recyclables for disposal free-of-charge at the CountyLandfill and Transfer Stations.

All residents and groups who wish to participate in Litterpluck must register in person and pick up their Litterpluck materials any time on or after Saturday, September 6th at their town or village hall.

All participants must use clear bags and must also turn in an official Litterpluck coupon to the transfer station or landfill where they dispose of their litter.  These coupons, which can be secured at the town or village hall during registration, will allow for better tracking of Litterpluck efforts.
