Attractive Storefronts Invite Customers – and Profits

May 23, 2012

[FERNDALE] – Successful retail businesses have attractive and well-maintained storefronts that invite customers and enhance the appearance of their community.  This workshop will explore the value of beautification to business success and provide examples of a range of improvements, from simple, cost-effective landscaping ideas to more extensive façade improvements.

“Beautifying Businesses” is being held on Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at the CVI Building in Ferndale, sponsored by Sullivan Renaissance.

Sullivan Renaissance Director Glenn Pontier will moderate the panel:

·         Heinrich Strauch , Executive Director of Liberty Community Development Corp., established in 2005 as the joint community development entity for the Town and Village of Liberty.  Its mission is revitalization of Liberty in fulfillment of a strategic plan developed by community residents that focuses on housing, youth and economic development.

·         Pat Pomeroy , Executive Director of Hudson Valley Regional Council, offering planning and assistance on public policy issues.  HVRC develops an annual Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy for the seven-county Hudson Valley Region with priority projects for federal funding consideration; active work groups consider regional solid waste initiatives, water quality, storm water management and green infrastructure.

·         Mary Lewis , Sullivan Renaissance Maintenance and Design Consultant, helps the organization evaluate past garden and landscaping projects to determine the kind of maintenance program needed to sustain them in the future, and helps fashion a program to raise garden design standards in new projects.

Strauch and Pomeroy will speak about their experiences administering façade grant programs in Liberty and Roscoe that were funded through the New York Main Street Grant Program, while Lewis will cover low-cost and simple landscaping ideas for different types of businesses.

Pre-registration is requested.  Refreshments will be provided.  For more information or to register, contact Sullivan Renaissance at or 845-295-2445.
