STILL TIME TO APPLY FOR SULLIVAN RENAISSANCE GRANT

Application Assistance Available in Every Community

March 7, 2006

[LIBERTY] – Communities interested in participating in the 2006 Sullivan Renaissance Grant Program still have time to plan projects and complete their paperwork.  Applications are due on Monday, March 20.  Representatives of Sullivan Renaissance will visit a community to explain the program and assist with the application process if requested.

Grants will be awarded on March 30 at 7:00 p.m. at the CVI Building in Liberty.  Projects must be completed in August.

Sullivan Renaissance is a two-phase aesthetic improvement program, presented by the Beaverkill Foundation with support from the Gerry Foundation.  The program continues to grow this year – with new municipal and seasonal matching grants, mini-grants for communities that “just want to plant flowers” and a public awareness campaign announcing “It’s Show Time!”  Additional funding has been secured by State Senator John J. Bonacic and Assemblywoman Aileen M. Gunther.

Other programs include: participant scholarships to SCCC, new awards for a “Showing of Flowers” and “Project Maintenance” and a return of the Youth Gardening Internship Program.  A school spruce up program assists young people with beautification projects on their school grounds or within their communities.  Details of the Board of Realtors’ Showcase Awards will be announced in April.

The 2006 Sullivan Renaissance program was unveiled during the 10th Annual Winter Forum and Expo in February at the CVI Building in Ferndale.  Over the last five years Sullivan Renaissance has funded over 165 projects in all 15 towns and 6 villages in Sullivan County
