SULLIVAN RENAISSANCE 2006 GRANTS TO BE AWARDED

This Thursday, March 30 at CVI

March 28, 2006

[LIBERTY] – Sullivan Renaissance 2006 will award grants for community projects at the Spring Forum on Thursday, March 30 at 7:00 p.m. at the CVI Building in Liberty.  Participants from all 15 towns and 6 villages will be present to describe their projects and receive their checks.  A list of communities and their projects will be available.

Sullivan Renaissance is a two-phase aesthetic improvement program, presented by the Beaverkill Foundation with support from the Gerry Foundation.  This year’s theme is “It’s Show Time” – celebrating the program’s 6th year and the attention focused on Sullivan County this year.  Additional funding has been secured by State Senator John J. Bonacic and Assemblywoman Aileen M. Gunther.

Programs include: three categories of grants based on the size of the projects; special awards for Environmental Impact, Historic Preservation, Showing of Flowers and Project Maintenance; new mini-grants; a Municipal Clean-up Pilot Program; Seasonal Community Demonstration Projects; and SCCC Scholarships.  The school spruce up program assists young people with beautification projects at their school grounds or within their communities.

Over the last five years Sullivan Renaissance has funded over 164 projects in all 15 towns and 6 villages of Sullivan County

Sullivan Renaissance will hold a special “Gardening Seminar” on Wednesday, April 5 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the CVI Building in Ferndale to help with garden planning and preparation.
