Marketing Tips for Recruiting and Retaining Volunteers | Oct. 18, 2018
“This program is about pulling communities and resources together,” said Chamber President and CEO Terri Hess, “I am proud of these businesses and encourage any merchant interested in helping out these volunteers through discounts to give me a call. There’s still time to get involved.”
The discount program offers Renaissance participants reductions of 5% to 50% on products and services used to clean up and beautify their communities. Each Sullivan Renaissance group has been given a special discount card and a list of participating businesses.
Companies that would like to participate should contact the Sullivan County Chamber of Commerce at 845-292-8500. Businesses do not need to be members to help.
In addition to cards, groups received grants as seed money for their projects, as well as binders to document their efforts. Other Renaissance features include: a second round of competitive grants; completion grants; youth interns; awards for environmental impact, historic preservation, maintenance and flowers; Golden and Silver Feather awards; and a SCCC scholarship program for Renaissance participants.
Renaissance projects must be completed by August 7 and will be judged on August 11 and 12. Second round grants will be awarded in the evening on August 14 at Bethel Woods.
Other Renaissance programs include: a municipal clean-up pilot program; matching grants for seasonal communities; a school spruce up program to assist young people with beautification projects at school or in their community; and the Board of Realtors Sullivan Showcase Awards for new or renovated construction.
Over the last five years Sullivan Renaissance has funded over 165 community projects in
