[LIVINGSTON MANOR] – The public is invited to join residents of Livingston Manor on Main Street for a “Golden Feather Celebration” this Saturday, August 24 from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m.
Livingston Manor Renaissance received the Golden Feather Award, a $25,000 grant presented by NYS Assemblywoman Aileen Gunther at the Sullivan Renaissance Awards Ceremony earlier this month. It was given to one of four large community projects that exhibited the highest level of excellence by incorporating beautification as part of a long-term strategy.
The celebration will kick off at the Catskill Art Society (CAS) at 48 Main Street with a brief ceremony at 12:15 p.m. This will be followed by a continuous slide show and complimentary coffee and cookies provided by Hello Bistro (formerly Flour Power Bakery). Maps showing the locations of all the gardens and history panels throughout Livingston Manor will be available. In addition, guided tours of local gardens will be led by volunteers every 30 minutes at 12:30, 1:00 and 1:30 p.m.
Visitors are encouraged to stroll down Main Street to admire the gardens and browse the local shops, as some merchants may be offering special one-day discounts. Rennie, the Sullivan Renaissance Rooster, will distribute coupons for a free ice-cream cone at Madison’s Main Street Stand at 46 Main Street. Café 43 at 43 Main Street will provide complimentary hot dogs, while the Water Wheel Junction will have free slices of watermelon. Individuals should look for the gold balloons and pop-up tents.
For a flyer showing ten winning communities announced at the Sullivan Renaissance Awards Ceremony, go to www.sullivanrenaissance.org and click on the “Winning Projects Map” Quicklink in the upper right hand corner. The flyer will also be available at CAS on Saturday.
