AUTUMN GARDENING

Get Tips and Advice at ‘Fall Gardening Seminar’

September 9, 2013

[LIBERTY] – Learn the essential fall gardening tasks one needs to prepare a garden bed for perennials and bulbs at Sullivan Renaissance s Fall Gardening Seminar this Wednesday, September 11 at 7:00 p.m. at Cablevision Center in Liberty.  Sullivan Renaissance is holding this free class in cooperation with Cornell Cooperative Extension of Sullivan County (CCE).

To jumpstart the garden this fall, the following topics will be presented:

  • Diana K. Weiner, Sullivan Renaissance Horticulture Coordinator, will teach how to make a compost lasagna;
  • Vivian Multari-Ginsberg, Sullivan Renaissance Community Horticulture Liaison, will share tips on planting a long lasting display of spring flowering bulbs; and
  • Susan Dollard, CCE Master Gardener Coordinator, will demonstrate how to expand a garden by dividing perennials one already has.

Information will also be presented about how to become involved in community gardening projects through “Early Admission” to the 2014 Sullivan Renaissance Grant Program.

Space is limited and pre-registration is requested for the classes.  Refreshments will be provided.

For more information or to register, contact Sullivan Renaissance at 845-295-2445 or www.sullivanrenaissance.org.
