[MONTICELLO] – An Ecumenical Thanksgiving Service will be held on Sunday, November 24 at 7:00 p.m. in the Bethlehem Temple Church on Fairground Road in Monticello. The service is sponsored by the Monticello Interfaith Council, which includes representatives of religious organizations in the Monticello area.
All people of faith are invited and welcome to attend.
The celebration of Thanksgiving will be led by Bishop Mervin Armstead of Bethlehem Temple Church. Elder Ryan Tinsley of Kings Chapel Mission will give the sermon entitled “Giving Thanks.” Minister Antonio Valle of Temple of Peace Holiness Church in Woodridge will sing a solo. The Bethlehem Temple Church Choir will be directed by Flora Armstead.
The service will include scripture readings and prayers by representatives of several religious organizations in the village, including Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, First Baptist Church of Monticello, St. John’s Episcopal Church, Temple Shalom, and United Methodist Church of Monticello.
An offering of canned goods and donations will be collected for the Caring Hands Food Pantry at St. John’s Episcopal Church. Light refreshments will be available during a time of fellowship after the service.
The Monticello Interfaith Council is a group of churches, congregations, organizations and people of faith. Meetings are held regularly on the second Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at various locations in Monticello. For more information contact Sullivan Renaissance at 845-295-2445.
