GARDENING IN THE FALL

Seminar will give Gardeners a Head Start on Next Year

September 29, 2014

[LIBERTY] – Join Sullivan Renaissance and the Sullivan County Master Gardeners for a “Fall Gardening Seminar” at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 1 in the Gerald J. Skoda Extension Education Center on Ferndale Loomis Road in Liberty.  Sullivan Renaissance is holding this free class in partnership with Cornell Cooperative Extension of Sullivan County (CCE).

Autumn is a great time to prepare for next summer’s garden.  Completing a series of fall tasks will give every gardener a great head start to the spring season, improve one’s chances for success and provide an opportunity to stop and enjoy the flowers.

Among the topics that CCE Master Gardeners will cover during the seminar are the following:

How to get garden beds ready for winter,

What to do with all those leaves, and

How to add fall color and interest to the garden.

Information will also be presented about how to become involved in community gardening projects through “Early Admission” to the 2015 Sullivan Renaissance Grant Program.

Space is limited and pre-registration is requested.  Refreshments will be provided.

For more information or to register, contact Sullivan Renaissance at 845-295-2445 or SullivanRenaissance.org.

Sullivan Renaissance is a beautification and community development program principally funded by the Gerry Foundation.  Sponsors include Bold Gold Media Group/Thunder 102, FisherMears Associates, Kristt Company, Robert Green Dealerships, Sullivan County Democrat, The River Reporter, Thompson Sanitation, and WSUL/WVOS.
