Local Businesses Support the Work of Community Volunteers who are Building Beautiful, Healthy, Active Communities in Sullivan County | Jan. 29, 2018
· “Water, Water, Everywhere!” on Thursday, June 18 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at United Methodist Church of Monticello, 445 Broadway, Monticello. Learn about best practices for watering and get tips about watering tools and resources, including rain gauges, rain barrels and mulching. Bring questions. This class will be led by the Cornell Cooperative Extension Master Gardener Volunteers.
· “Celebrating Sullivan Spaces – Walk and Learn” event in Roscoe on Saturday, June 27 from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. at the clock on Stewart Avenue, Roscoe. Individuals who would like to learn more about gardening, including companion planting and dividing perennials, are invited. The class will be taught by Sullivan Renaissance Horticulture Coordinator Diana K. Weiner, using the plantings and gardens cared for by the Roscoe-Rockland Chamber of Commerce, the hamlet’s volunteer beautification group. The event will also include the unveiling of a plaque honoring the volunteers who maintain these public gardens.
This is the second event of the 2015 “Celebrating Sullivan Spaces” campaign, which promotes education and community engagement in Sullivan County’s public spaces. All events take place in parks and gardens that are cared for by volunteers.
