‘This Beautiful Garden is Maintained and Nurtured by Dedicated Community Volunteers’

October 16, 2015

[LIBERTY] – Sullivan Renaissance will unveil a special “Community Volunteer” plaque in the garden at LaPolt Park on Main Street in Liberty on Friday, October 23 at 1:00 p.m.  It is given in appreciation and recognition of the years that volunteers have created, developed and maintained gardens in their communities.

The plaque sits on top of a small sign post in the garden and reads: “With Appreciation and Support from Sullivan Renaissance, This Beautiful Garden is Maintained and Nurtured by Dedicated Community Volunteers.”

Some people don’t know that most of the gardens in public spaces throughout Sullivan County have been planted and are maintained by volunteers.

The plaque also includes a well-known quotation by anthropologist Margaret Mead, “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world, indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.”

Other plaques will be installed in Rock Hill, Kauneonga Lake, Circle Park in Lumberland, Daniel Pierce Library in Neversink, Phillipsport and Wurtsboro.  Plaques have already been unveiled in Callicoon, Livingston Manor, Narrowsburg, Roscoe and Swan Lake.

For more information, or if you would like to volunteer, contact Sullivan Renaissance at www.sullivanrenaissance.org or 845-295-2445.
