PHILLIPSPORT – Anyone who would like to learn best practices for spring spruce-up is invited to a free “Celebrating Sullivan Spaces” gardening class in Phillipsport on Saturday, May 21 from 10:00 a.m. to noon. Hands-on instruction will be taught using the gardens planted and maintained by the Phillipsport Community Center, one of the hamlet’s volunteer beautification groups.
Phillipsport Community Center is located off Route 209 at 657 Red Hill Road in Phillipsport. No gardening experience is necessary to participate. Gloves and tools will be available but individuals may bring their own gardening tools if they would prefer. Refreshments will be provided.
This is the first event of the 2016 “Celebrate Sullivan Spaces” campaign, which promotes education and community engagement in Sullivan County’s public spaces. All events take place in parks and gardens that are cared for by volunteers.
To RSVP for “Ready, Set, Garden!” and to learn more about upcoming community events, contact Sullivan Renaissance at 845-295-2445 or visit SullivanRenaissance.org.
Sullivan Renaissance is a beautification and community development program principally funded by the Gerry Foundation.
